What Happens When You Don’t Reach The Goal?

Although the month is not over, we’re not on track to reach our sales goals. The good thing is that there is still time left in the month to get some deals under contract! Let us know if you need any assistance!

Yet the question still remains: What happens when you don’t reach the goal? When I don’t reach a goal that I set, I tend to get frustrated and I’ll think about what went wrong, what I could of done better, and most importantly….what I’m going to do next time.

Giving up is not an option. One quote that I really like is: “If your plan doesn’t work, change the plan, not the goal”. I’m a firm believer in changing the plan when need be. However, in some cases the goal may need to be modified too. This occurs when we set the bar “too high”. Unrealistically high.

I like challenging goals; all goals should be somewhat challenging I believe, but there’s a big difference between a tough goal and an unrealistic goal. An unrealistic goal is pretty much impossible to reach. Those types of goals are not fun to go after because there’s no “end-game”.

When I think of unrealistic goals I think of gambling at the casino and playing games at the carnival. The possibility to win is there, but the likeliness of winning is not. We’re more likely to give up on our goals if we set them too high or if we make them too challenging, so it’s very important that our goals are challenging, yet realistic.

It’s a blessing to have like minded people to discuss your goals with, and it’s even a bigger blessing to have people that you can discuss your goals with who actually want to help you reach them! We’re here to help you. If you’ve set some challenging goals, more than likely you’re going to need some type of help reaching your destination. So feel free to reach out and be sure to set a goal to make today a GREAT day!
